This evening, my husband and I were taking an evening walk on our street. I was having a case of the Mondays, and I needed some fresh air. If you live in the mountains, you will learn that one second the sun will be out and the next it will be cloudy and raining. This is exactly what happened to us as we made our way to the top of the hill on our road. As we were deciding whether to stick it out or keep going, a car drove by us and the driver gave us a little wave. When we turned around, the light rain turned into an all out down-pour and we heard a vehicle coming around the bend. A lady rolled down the window and told us that she has passed us a minute ago in her little car and she brought her husbands bigger vehicle down to see if we needed a ride.
To some, this probably sounds like a goofy thing to care about sharing on my blog. I guess that sometimes little things can mean so much. Nate and I have had issues with hostile, beligerent neigbors in the past and we have been touched by the warmth and kindness of the people that live on our road. Some of us, myself included, have spent the past year astounded at what we watch happening around us. Violence, robberies, rudeness, and all out selfishness are what we see when we click on the news and we can get trapped in a mindset that humans aren't really that nice anymore. Todays little story shows that there is compassion, love, and good character all around. Sometimes it just takes a sweet lady offering us her dry car to help me remember this.
