A Farm Table

While I was in Charleston, Mr. Wyatt built me this.

Look at that woodwork.  What a man.  Now I dream of joyous and magical summer dinners surrounded by twinkle lights and a fairy-like glow.  Here are some things that would look good...

1st Row- Twisted Driftwood Hurrican Holders / Milk Glass Hobnail Jars / Enamelware Tumblers

2nd Row- Enamelware Plate Set / Pitcher / Striped Table Runner

3rd Row- Beach Towel / Striped Straws / String Lights

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mothers Day! My mom is the most beautiful woman inside and out.  She is the picture of a Godly woman who practices love, patience, and compassion on a daily basis.  Look at these pictures I found! She was in college when these were taken.  Isn't she a beauty?

Where Do I Start...

to try and tell all of you how special this weekend is going to be!  Maybe I can start by telling you about my college years, and how the most wonderful bond of friendship started between 6 girls.

When I went away to college, I was a younger than normal freshman who was scared sick about leaving home and living on my own.  I was homesick for weeks, and I was sure that I would not make it through the year. Living an hour away (yes, I was still homesick) from where I grew up meant that every weekend I would pack my bags and head home.  It was really sad and I was struggling with so much anxiety at this point in my life. Of course, this only lasted a short time.  Not long into my first year of college my art major roommate introduced me to a group of girls from who would change my life.

I have always wondered what makes college friends so tight.  I think a lot of it has to do with growing into adults together.  Going through break-ups, making mistakes... Having big nights out, and discussing the details at the bagel shop the next morning... Figuring out your current situation, your future plans, and learning how to make ends meet.  These girls have seen me at my best and they most certainly have seen me at my worst. What means the most, is that I could make an entire mockery out of my life, and each one of them would be there to pick me up and dust me off.

Starting at the end of our senior year, we began taking a yearly trip together and reminisce while making many new memories!  Over the past couple of years, marriages, babies, new jobs, and relocations across the country or out of the country have made it hard to get everyone together for our annual Art Girl Weekend. That is why I am itching with excitement for tomorrow to come!

Of course, every good trip to Charleston needs a good outfit.  Here are some of my picks for the weekend.

Emerson Fry Tunic / Madewell Skinny Oil Well Washed Jeans / Free People Shenandoah Tunic / Patchwork  Scarf / Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray / Anthro Swimsuit / Target Tote / Milly Bar Tank Dress / Emerson Fry Sandal / J.Crew Embroidered Rope Tunic /One Truffle Pouch

Met Gala Judgement

Let's talk about the Met Gala.  This is my favorite red carpet next to the Oscars.  I love seeing how these stars can put together something couture while sticking to the theme of the event.  This year, the Met Gala theme was Punk.  Punk isn't really my thing, but I couldn't wait to see what would be on the red carpet.  While I always love feminine elegance, this was not the event for that.

Katie Holmes and Blake Lively looked beautiful, but the theme did not call for the hollywood glamour wow factor this year.

Dressing for a theme doesn't mean you have to give completely over to a look that is not you.  However, it is a costume event and it doesn't hurt to have a little fun.

Nina Dobrev was one of my favorites.  She is normally very feminine and flirty on the red carpet, but she rocked the edgy look!

I also loved Cameron's look.  She kept true to her clean simple lines, but added the punk look in just the right way.

While this dress is no surprise for JLo, her hair is awesome!

Jessica kept her normal wow factor, but she really does get it right every time.

Lily Collins is a true beauty, but she wasn't afraid to have some fun.

It was good to see Taylor doing something different with her hair.  This look is way better than when she tried to be punk rock in her "Trouble" video.

Then there are those who are naturally edgy and different, and they were able to pull of the right look perfectly.

Rooney Mara is in full on lace, but she kills it with that lip color!

Alexa pulls off the look flawlessly, as usual.

And then there were people who just got the completely wrong memo.  There was nothing punk about them at all!

UUUughhhhh.  Heidi should never have worn this.  That gold number she had on at the Oscar after party this year would have been way better for this event.

A party in the Hamptons?  Stop it Zooey.

I think Carey Mulligan got the memo that it was a New Wave theme.  Close, but no cigar.

And then there were those who should have gotten back in their limos and called it a night before bringing these disasters onto the red carpet.

Beyonce should have stopped while she was ahead.

Miley needs to move on from this phase she is going through.

I don't even know where to start.

At least she brushed her hair.

A Room Full of Lilacs

I love beautiful vignettes.  I probably have tried to create to many in this little house.  Whenever I find myself stuck on what to put in a space, I rely on flowers.  Now that Spring has sprung (even though it has been rainy and cold) I can cut right from the yard.  I love learning what Mr. Wyatt's great-grandmother has planted, and I always find something new.  This weekend, I put on my rain boots and took a wet walk around the yard.  I realized that there were three beautiful lilac bushes that I have completetly overlooked. Oh the smell is glorious! Look at these beauties!

Can you tell that I had a little too much fun with softening tool on instagram?
